Sign-ups are important to get right ASAP. You don’t even have to have a product before you start selling it. Convince users your product is worth the effort of adopting. Every introduction to a product should say, simple, “Sign up. It’s easy. We promise it’ll be worth your while.”
While tugging at my heartstrings with the temptation to put my email on “snooze”, Snoozemail is not making me feel confident they can fulfill on that promise. Their disclaimer is so offputting that I’m not sure whether they mean it or not. My immediate reaction is to scoff at the hubris. Then again, maybe it’s tongue in cheek humor? More than likely, it’s a misunderstanding – bad copy – and easy to fix.

Here’s why I’m confused, put off and never likely to return. It’s the statement about data. I *think* they mean that they cannot guarantee that they will not go out of business at some point and therefore not to depend on me for high quality service. Like all beta services, they’re in the territory of caveat emptor. I get it. But what they end up saying to me is “we may delete your gmail data completely, without warning, without recourse. Now give me your username and password.” This is precisely what I do not want to do. Ever. I wouldn’t even trust myself with that responsibility!
You snooze, you lose. Alea acta est.
